Day 21: Garson COFFEE!

I'll start by saying, I never win anything.  Maybe I don't win because I never really actually enter for anything.  I mean, every now and then, I enter something, but for the most part, I just don't.  But, recently, I was singing a different tune.

A friend of mine messaged me on Facebook and told me that she heard that Houseparty.com was being sponsored by Keurig and it was only eligible for people in the Seattle Metropolitan area.  Well, I live in the Seattle Metropolitan area and I love coffee.  I figured, what the hell, and I applied.  A few days later, I look at their site and so my surprise, I was selected.  Wait, there wasn't enough excitement in that last sentence.

I WAS SELECTED TO HOST A HOUSEPARTY SPONSORED BY KEURIG!!!

How freaking cool right?  To host a party with Houseparty, you have to be willing to invite people to your house so that you can show off the goods.  Basically you are advertising for the company sponsoring the party.  And you know what you get in return?  STUFF!  For this party, I got:
  • Keurig
  • a ton of K-cups
  • coffee cups
  • biscotti
  • mints
  • two brew over ice tumblers
  • rebate certificates for my guests
  • and some other stuff
It really was an awesome party.  I was super excited to get things ready for it.  I made all of the decorations and made a homemade cherry coffee cake that exceeded not only my highest expectations but blows my favorite breakfast place in Las Vegas, The Cracked Egg's, coffee cake right out of the water.

It really was amazing and this new Keurig is INCREDIBLE!  It has a digital screen with a timer which is going to be AMAZING for Matt so that he won't run out of time in the mornings to brew his coffee.  Also, the selection of K-cups that they sent us was amazing.  So many options, I felt like I was in caffeine nirvana, probably because I was.

So, enough talk, you guys want to see the pictures?

I bought these mugs at IKEA and used a sharpie to write the quotes. I baked them after for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Rumor has it that the marker won't wear off after that, we shall see.

I am so sad that this picture is blurry because it was hilarious catching this.
Lucy and Clara played dress up while us adults indulged in the coffee

And the boys played too (Clara included)

THE BEST COFFEE CAKE IN THE WORLD. Well maybe not in the world, but in my house. It will be a reoccurring dish. Plus is was so freaking easy.  What I am so excited about this recipe, is that the website where I got it from, it was submitted by someone in Las Vegas, so of course I felt even more compelled to love it.  Find the recipe here

The girls got to drink their "coffee" from the Keurig cups. Their coffee was really just chocolate milk, but shhhhhh don't tell them :)

I just love this picture.  I feel like it totally shows how I felt during the party. I was so happy to have been selected to host this party for Houseparty and Keurig.  It was surreal that I actually won.  And the time I got to spend with my (newly found) friends was great!  There was tons of great conversation and plenty of laughs.

It totally made me remember this quote I found when I was looking for stuff to write on my mugs:

Only one thing is certain about coffee...
Wherever it is grown, sold, brewed, and consumed, there will be lively controversy, strong opinions, and good conversation.
-Mark Pendergrast

And finally, after a fabulous party, after everyone had left, I was able to get a cup of coffee myself.

Thank you again, Houseparty.com and Keurig, you helped make a typical Saturday morning, utterly fabulous!!
