Dexter's Monster Birthday

Finally I am getting around to posting about Dexter's birthday party.  And just as a forewarning, this post is very photo heavy, so sit back and relax while it loads.

Here was Dexter's cake and cupcakes.  I made it (the frosting was from scratch but not the cake itself) and I used a grass tip for the frosting.  I hand frosted the cupcakes too and my sister-in-law, Jessica, helped put all the eyes on them.
For the favors, my grandma (mentioned here), hand crocheted all these monsters.  She did an amazing job on them.  I have to admit, I was sad that I didn't pull my "favorites" out before everyone got theirs to take home, but I am glad that they all went to good homes.  It's also been pointed out to me, that although I am a good crafter, I am a terrible speller.  How the hell did I miss that I spelled monster wrong on this frame and did not freaking see it until it's been posted on the internet for all the world to see....................
And here was his gift table, you can see his "And then" book peaking it's head out.
And here is the birthday boy eating sand.  The poor guy only days before fell into the coffee table and had a little bit of a shiner.
 Yaaay!  He turned 1!!
My mom made Lucy, my aunts and me these eye ball necklaces.

Then it was time for him to eat his cake.  And boy did he ever.
He started with the marshmallow eyes...

And didn't stop until almost the whole cake was gone.

When it was time for gifts, he pretty much was only interested in the tissue paper.

 And the occasional toy.

We had a "photo booth" which no one really knew was there, but that was my fault for not officially announcing it.
The banner did not want to cooperate with me at all.

Thank you to everyone that joined us for Dexter's party.  We had such a great time and we really appreciated see everyone.  It had been about 8 months since we were together with our family and I know that even though Dexter was pretty angry if anyone else held him other than Matt or myself, that one day he will greatly appreciate all the love he felt that day.
