I have talked about my obsession with the Food Network. I love it. I have gotten so many tips and skills from watching it. For instance, one of the tips I got was from Paula Dean. She was cooking a steak or chicken, or something and she mentioned the best way to season it was with garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. So I started seasoning my meat this way. Every time I would cook, I would pull out all my spices and individually add them.
The, one day, an idea struck me like lightening. Why not just mix them all together? I save jars, because really, you never know when you need a jar, and found that I had a glass seasoning jar. I prefer these glass ones, because I tried saving a plastic one from my garlic salt, but no amount of vinegar could get rid of the garlic smell afterwards.
So I grabbed my spices and my glass jar and then I lined them up so I could take a picture of them.
Then I just eyeballed it, but tried to get in equal parts of all the spices. I added a spoonful of paprika for an added bonus. Excuse the messy counter, I am a messy mixer.
Next, I put on the lid and did a little shake shake shake and BAM, a very simple spice mix. I find this to be a very easy solution to my problem.
Eventually, I will attempt to get the writing off the jar and make my own fancy label, but for now, it just stays as is. Enjoy!
