A quick necklace holder

The day has come that my little girl has so many necklaces, she can't keep them straight.  This is partially my fault, I am after all the one making them for her.  But what else can I do?  She says she wants a heart necklace, I make her a heart necklace.  She says she wants a My Little Pony necklace, so I make her ::cough6cough::

Finally I decided she needed a way to keep them organized.  While I was cleaning the house the other day, I noticed that we still had the wood from her board breaking class at karate.  I feel bad just throwing it away because come on, it's pretty awesome that my daughter broke the crap out of that board.

I gave it a good hard look and decided that it would look great if I painted it pink and glued some wood knobs on it.  I mean, what doesn't look good after painting it pink?  The knobs I had from a project I was going to do but it didn't work out.  Lucky Lucy.

After everything was painted, I sat the knobs on the board only to see that it looked pretty boring.  I didn't want anything super crazy, but just a little more character.  So I went to my scrapbooking stuff looking for these little metal frames that my mom had given me about 6 years ago that I had never used.  Shhh, don't tell Matt I have supplies from that long ago.

When all was said and done, I grabbed little miss to show her.  She was pleased.  As a matter of fact, she went running around the house looking for all her necklaces.

She wanted to know where I was going to hang it and I told her I would put it in the bathroom since that is where she takes them off each night before her bath.  She was happy about that too, not sure if you can see the excitement from this picture.
Overall, this was a SUPER easy, SUPER quick and of course, SUPER inexpensive project.  Hope you enjoy!

  4. So cute Randi! I made one for these but just used tacks at our old house. I haven't made one yet for our new home for my necklaces. I am totally going to use this idea; I love the knobs so much better than the tacks I used! haha! :) It turned out SO cute; great job!
