Should I take a bow?

Way back in March, one of my faithful readers, Heather at The Frill of Life, sent me a link saying she was tagging me with the "Liebster Award."

I did not forget about it, I just put it on the back burner.

Then last week, I got another message saying that my friend Ashley at My Craftily Ever After tagged me with the same award and so now I figure I might as well get it done and over with before I forget again put it on the back burner.  I mean these ladies think enough of me to add me to their list, I should actually follow through right?

So what does one do with a Liebster award?  Well the first thing is to copy the info about said award from the last person that gave it to you:

The Liebster Award is a token of recognition that bloggers award to fellow bloggers who they think deserve more recognition. The terminology “Liebster” roughly translates to “Dearest” from German, and the guidelines of this award are as follows:
  • Thank the blogger who gave you the award and link back to them in your acceptance post!
  • Share 11 interesting things about yourself.  Don’t be shy, and don’t worry if they aren’t relevant to the topic of your blog.  They aren’t supposed to be!
  • Answer the 11 questions that the blogger who awarded you asked in their post.
  • Create your own set of 11 questions for the next recipients of the award.
  • Pass the award to some of your own favorite bloggers!  Each awardee should have less than 200 followers for their blog.
So first and foremost, thank you ladies for the award.  I am very humbled that I would even pop up on your blogger radar!

As for the 11 interesting things about myself...that is a hard one.  Let's see.................

1.  I was born and raised in Las Vegas.  I had never lived anywhere else but Las Vegas prior to our move to Seattle.  I never thought I would ever live anywhere else, but now that we are in Seattle, I never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever want to leave (I typed all those "evers" by hand, there was no copy and paste there, that is how much I never want to leave).

2.  I am the oldest of three.  I have two brother's.  One will turn 30 this year.  The other will turn 15.

3.  9 out of 10 times, I can recognize a movie within 5 seconds of seeing it on TV.  Usually in less time.

4.  I remember random useless crap.  I used be able to remember exactly what you were wearing on the day I met you.  I used to remember all the questions AND answers to the first addition of Who Wants to be a Millionaire the computer game.

5.  Going off #4, I cannot remember dates to save my life.  I have missed midterms and finals because "I swear the test is next Tuesday, not the Tuesday that just passed."  I can write it down, set reminders, whatever, but I always manage to screw things up.

6.  I love to write.  And not just this blog.  This blog is actually my distraction from my book(s).  I have been writing since I was in 7th grade when I remember my English teacher blowing bubbles in our class and then asking us to describe them.

7.  I love to cook.  And one day I will have a kitchen that will support this.  I dream of a LARGE countertop that I can just dice, cut, prep and roll [dough] on.  With a double oven, a gas range and a huge fridge.

8.  As much as I bitch and complain, I actually really like working out.  I really enjoy boot camp and getting up early.

9.  I have watched all seasons of The Office like 6 times.  Except for the last two but that is only because they haven't been readily available on Netflix.

10.  I like to dabble in all types of crafts.  I used to say I was only a scrapbooker, but the truth is, I haven't picked up a scrapbook and a picture in over a year.

11.  I stay up way too late.

So on to the questions from Heather:

If you could change one thing about your mommy life, what would it be?
I would wish for more patience.
If you had to rename your children, what names would you choose?
Princess Leia and Lucas Danger
What inspires you to blog?
I like to blog because it makes me think.  It gives me something other to read than children's stories

I actually really enjoy all of the blogs that I follow/read/stumble across.
Name your 3 favorite books.
The Book Thief
The Help
The Hitchhiker's Gide to the Galaxy
Who is your hero?
Right now, my daughter.  She's 5 and the courage that she's shown through this whole thing as been incredible.
What is your dream job?
Today, it would be bed and breakfast owner.  Tomorrow it might be own of a craft store.  But that is only if I had to work outside the home.  I quite enjoy what I do now.
What is your favorite thing to do with your free time (when you’re not blogging)?
I like to hike, watch TV and do all kinds of crafting.  I am always looking for a challenge.
What is your favorite season and why?
Spring.  Hands down.
Name a color that describes you and why you chose that color:
The color that explains me would probably be blue.  It's a "cool" color.  I am pretty cool if I do say so myself ;)
What is/was your ultimate goal in life?
To be happy.

My questions from Ashley:

What made you start blogging?  Has your focus changed since then?
I started blogging long long long ago to update all our family on my daughter's status.  When I had my first loss I started losing interest in blogging and kinda stopped for a bit.  When I got pregnant with Dexter I decided to pick it back up.  It's been kind of taking on a life of it's own recently.
What is your favorite way to relax and unwind?
I like to sit at night with my laptop and watch TV.
If you could be any animal what would it be and why?
I would be a bird or a fish.  I could love to know how it feels to fly, but I LOVE to swim
What would your friends say is your best quality?
I don't know?  I like to think that I am there for them when they need me
Who is your greatest inspiration?
See above.  Right now, it's Lucy.  She is amazing.
What is your favorite book, movie and quote?
See above for the favorite books.  Movie would have to be all three of the Back to the Futures and quote would be "You is kind, you is smart, you is important" -Abilene (The Help)
How is your life different than thought it would be when you were younger?
I went to school to be a teacher.  I haven't finished college yet, but I figured by now I would be a teacher.
What is your least favorite food and why?
I am not a fan of fish.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
It would be a toss up of any camping trips I took with my dad and brother, or my weekend trip to Camp Foxtail when I was in Girl Scouts.
What was the most difficult thing you’ve ever done? (such a good question)
This is a hard question.  If I get really intense, getting through 2010 was the most difficult thing.  If I get more up to date, leaving my daughter in the OR was the most difficult.
Where do you see yourself in 5, 10 and 20 years from now?
In 5 years, I would like to see myself maybe working part time in a craft store, still living in Seattle.
In 10 years, I will be the mom to a 15 year old girl (OMG let me crawl into a corner and rock for a bit).  I am sure I will be staying up all night making sure she isn't sneaking out, she's doing all the things she should be doing etc.
In 20 years, I don't even know...a mother in law?  A grandma?

My 11 questions to my blogger friends will be as follows:

1.  What is your greatest accomplishment this past year (aside from your kids)?
2.  What is the best project you've done?
3.  What is your biggest crafting fail?
4.  What is your favorite food?
5.  What is your bed time?
6.  The last movie you watched was?
7.  What is your favorite recipe ever?
8.  What is the one crafting tool you cannot live without?
9.  What are three bloggers you read regularly?
10.  Pepsi or Coke? (remember there is only one correct answer here)
11.  What are three tips you would give to your fellow blogger?
