This week's menu

This week's menu is late.  I know.  But if you read my post about Lucy, then you can imagine why it was late.  Yesterday instead of writing my menu plan, since I had no idea what we were up against, I cuddled with Lucy, packed our hospital bag and internally stressed like there was no tomorrow.

When we got up this morning and drove to the hospital, I was on pins and needles.  I was freaking out.  But Lucy, she was just as spunky as ever.  She talked to all the doctors and nurses and told them all about how she skinned her knee the night before at a friend's house.  She told them all how she was 5 and how she had a brother that was 1.  She told them all about how she is going to start school.  She had a smiled the entire time.  I walked her back to the OR and held her hand while they put her under the anesthesia.  And then I went back to the waiting room where Matt was and, well, waited.

Everything came out fine.  The doctor was confident that every went right and although her eyes will look bad for a week or so, she's on a great path to recovery.  And her eyes look bad.  I was prepared for them to look bloody.  I was prepared for them to look this way.  But for as much as I prepared for it, it still took me by surprise.

And in the end, Lucy is in great spirits.  She's been spoiled beyond belief and it's not done.  I can't wait to see her face in the next few days when she gets her mail.

In other news, I ran another 5k on Saturday before going to the airport to pick up my mom.   Matt and the kids were there to cheer me on and Lucy joined me and ran the last 10ish feet with me.  It was awesome.

The kids and I joined one of my friends and her kids at the pool earlier in the week also.  It was Dexter's first time swimming and he loved it.  As of course did Lucy.  I love that I have water babies.  Both of them need to get in on some swim lessons though, so I am looking for open classes.

Now on to the menu...

Even though there isn't one really...

All week, we will be doing mostly leftovers or eating out.  I don't know what each day is going to bring.  It's hard knowing if I am going to be spending the day snuggling or if I can do my "chores" so I am not planning on much.

I am sure you all can understand that.

Anyway, I want to thank everyone for their super kind works last week.  I read all the comments and although I have not responded back personally to each, all your kindness helped me in this time.  I also told Lucy she had the entirety of the internet behind her in this.  She doesn't know what it means yet, but one day, she will.  And where she can't understand it yet, I do, and from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
