Day 11: Candles

Day 11

There are times in my crafting world where I have a vision.  A good vision.  An awesome idea.  A break thru in creativity.

There are times when I put into action these ideas, these visions and they turn out stupid.

Case in point, my candles.

I saw the idea months back on Pinterest.  Everyone's pins were amazing.  They had coloring and shading and the perfect amount of hot glue.  I think where I went wrong initially is that I was only using 3/4 inch pipe.  I think if I had used 1" or higher, it would have been better.

I also underestimated the amount of hot glue one of these "candles" would need.  I went through 4 sticks per candle.  I had planned on making a set of four, but forget that!  My hand was sore, I was burning myself left and right and Dexter was all up in my business while I was trying to do this.

Needless to say, this craft has the POTENTIAL of being insanely awesome.  I know it can.  I have seen proof.  I, however, am not able to make them as awesome as others.  I will put them out this Halloween for decor.  I will probably chuck them after and try again next year.

In the mean time, they are keeping my kids busy!  As you can see below, Dexter kept trying to blow out the candles.  He didn't believe me when I told him they were fake.  Always the skeptic.

And I have no idea what is going on here with Lucy.  She looks like a little beggar child.

Please, sir, just a tuppance for a loaf of bread...

Day 11, nailed it.
