A typical morning for us involves Lucy and I going head to head as to what is appropriate and what is not appropriate for school. She wants to wear plaid shorts and a stripe tank top, I want her to wear a matching outfit that is warm regardless of color.
These battles take us on a good day, 30 minutes, on a bad day, almost an hour. She is nothing short of her mother when it comes to her stubbornness. I decided a while ago that every night before bed she would pick out her outfits so we could have these arguments at night and not in the morning.
And it works. It worked out great for us. Then I started a 31 day challenge to do hot yoga every night. Now instead of assisting with bedtime, I leave at 7:00pm only minutes after dinner is finished and sit in a stifling hot room for 90 minutes. And of course, Matt doesn't care what she wears as long as she is dressed, so she hasn't been setting out her clothes every night and now every morning, we are struggling to get out the door on time again.
Which was when this idea came into my head. Why not have her pick out all her clothes for the whole week on Sunday and just be done with it.
So what I did was this. I grabbed a scrap piece of wood from the garage and I glued 5 PVC pipe elbow joints to the wood. Of course this was after painting it and decorating the joints with washi tape.
Lucy was so excited that she wouldn't even put her fork down from dessert to come and check it out.
Now, under full discloser, the second after I got done taking this picture, the far right elbow joint fell off. Followed by the second and the forth. Turns out, the hot glue I used sucked. Tomorrow I will be fixing it with an epoxy glue so that it will hold better.
And that ends day 5.
