When I mentioned to a friend of mine that I would be including earrings in my PVC pipe craft month, she said to me "umm Rando [thats what people call me], I don't see the appeal for jewelry made from something I use for my plumbing."
Well she was wrong. First she was wrong because there is no way you would use 1/2 inch pipe for main plumbing. Second, I think they are pretty swell. And my opinion is the only opinion that matters ::wink::
So maybe you are wondering how I made them. Well let me tell you. I took some 1/2 inch PVC pipe and cut it into approximately 1/2 inch pieces with my miter saw. And then I spray painted them orange.
After they were dry, I attempted to drill a hole in them to add the post. This was unsuccessful. The drill slipped while I was holding it and I drilled into my finger. My drill and I then became blood brothers forever connected in time. When I die, I expect to be buried with this drill.
After my bonding moment with my drill, I used my Xacto blade to slowly carve a hole in it. That was far more easier and less dangerous than the drill.
And then TA-DA! Magic was made.
I particularly like these earrings, not because they are pumpkins (I mean, who DOESN'T love pumpkins), but because they have the potential for so many other types of designs. When I talked to my mom about what I was doing and to show her the insanely amazing tool I bought to help me with these earrings (I will be posting a video demo of the tool soon, don't you worry) she gave me 9 million more ideas. Yes. 9 million*.
