Recycled Bookmarks

This month's Craft Lightning is all about the recycled projects! And as it turns out, when your Girl Scout troop sells over 3,900 boxes of cookies in one season, you have a lot, and I do mean A LOT of recyclable items at your disposal (ba dum dum!)!

This couldn't have been an easier project either!  I gook the empty cookie boxes and broke them open.  Then I used my paper cutter and sliced them into a reasonable bookmark shape.

When they were all cut, I used a hole punch and strung some yarn in them! Super easy!  This would be a VERY VERY easy craft for Girl Scouts to do themselves. On a Daisy level, this could be used towards the "Using Resources Wisely" patch too!

Another idea is that you could print off the Girl Scout Promise and put it on the back of the bookmark.  Either way this helps recycle those boxes!

Don't forget to check all the other Craft Lightning posts going on this week too!  There are some good ones!

  1. Great idea! Thanks for joining in!

  2. I would never have thought of this... and I have sold a LOT of cookies (and eaten quite a few, too!). So clever!

  3. Great way to combine business and pleasure - recycling and reading! Thanks for sharing it here!

Leave me some love! I read them all and it always makes me feel warm and fuzzy when people comment!
